Objective
Develop an interactive study guide template for Rhythmix’s Performance, Art and Learning (PAL) arts education assembly program.
Organization and Program Overview
Rhythmix Cultural Works is a 501(c)3 non-profit whose mission is to build community by inspiring engagement in the arts as a way to learn about each other and the world.
Through its Performance, Art & Learning (PAL) program, Rhythmix has provided FREE multicultural arts-education assemblies to over 13,000 East Bay youth since 2012.
Challenge & Project Proposal
One goal of PAL is to provide educational materials that help extend the learning to the classroom.
To this end, Rhythmix currently offers a Study Guide with each assembly containing information and activity suggestions that teachers can digest and then integrate with their classroom curriculum.
As the fall PAL assemblies will be presented virtually this year (and most general classroom learning will be virtual as well) Rhythmix is looking for a more direct and effective way to offer the extended learning materials to students in an interactive format.
Community Impact
PAL Program offered to 3,000+ students over 35 schools spanning 3 school districts per academic year. On average, 60% to 70% schools served are Title 1 schools. Moving PAL to a virtual format will allow Rhythmix to expand our reach to even more East Bay schools and beyond.

Project Framework
Through the Design for Community Project, Rhythmix hopes that a Study Guide template can be developed with the following objectives:
- Students can easily interact with the study guide at their own pace and be able to provide feedback/answer questions along the way.
- Teachers can easily integrate the study guide into classroom curriculum as an in-class activity or homework assignment to be accomplished individually by students or in a group.
- Pre- and post- assembly questions will allow the gathering and assessment of the impact of the assemblies and supplemental study guide information on student learning objectives.
- A section of grade-level based questions can be chosen easily to adapt the study guide to the appropriate age level.
- Artists can easily drop & manipulate text, photos, and videos directly within the template format when developing their individualized study guide.
- The template will be easy to modify to fit the needs of different artists and assemblies.
