Subconscious and conscious at play

Playhouse

Featuring the Art of Aliea WallaceJune 10th- through June 29th

Opening Reception June 10th, 6-9pm

As a teaching artist at Rhythmix, Aliea Wallace explores her interest in the in-between bouts of energy that become scribbles and doodles in art-making. Whether it’s art from pieces from a blank piece of paper, canvas or mylar, she has collected all kinds of discarded paper in the classroom where she teaches, with also happens to be the K gallery.

Playhouse is a body of work that has been evolving and will continue to evolve, a puzzle that has no solution. It is about the subconscious and conscious at play, together. Most of the pieces in this show have been “played with” in the last 5 months by Aliea and the students with whom she works.

“I think kids’ art is sometimes more interesting than the stuff you see in museums. Because it’s so raw.” – Aliea Wallace
