A 6-week series with Sandi Ball
Ages 15 & up
Join instructor Sandi Ball for this exciting 6-week series exploring the basics of American Tribal Style® Belly Dance – our unique improvisational belly dance language, designed here in the Bay Area!
What is ATS®?
ATS® (American Tribal Style®) belly dance is known for its improvisational choreography with movements that are inspired by folkloric dances of the Middle East, North Africa, Spain and India.
What to expect:
Discover posture & body awareness,
Explore slow & fast movements (Arm undulations, bodywaves, hip twists, shimmies and more!),
Progress to more complex steps each week,
Learn to play zils (finger cymbals),
Practice lead and follow concepts and group formations for improvisation,
Challenge your mimicry and puzzle solving skills in graceful movement!
Dress:
Wear whatever you are comfortable moving in! Bring a full skirt or loose pants, hip scarf, short top or choli, if you have it. Bare feet, socks or dance shoes are best. Floor is no-gloss hard wood.
About Sandi Ball:
