“Destined to be a holiday classic!” —SF Examiner
“‘The Jewelry Box’ is a gift…it glitters with bright comedy, sharply observed local color and deftly drawn characters as well as genuine warmth.” —SF Chronicle
Happy Holidays from Oakland! In this hilarious, heartwarming prequel to his hit one-man show “Not a Genuine Black Man”, local Bay Area actor-playwright Brian Copeland recounts two memorable weeks in his youth when he took to Oakland’s mean streets to buy his mom the perfect Christmas gift.
Rife with references to ’70s Oakland, “The Jewelry Box” follows six-year-old Brian’s adventures as he scours the help-wanted ads, applies for jobs and collects bottles, inching his way ever-closer toward the coveted present — a jewelry box from the Hegenberger White Front store.
Join us on Saturday, December 2 for a candid, intimate evening with comic personality Brian Copeland. There’s no better way to start the 2017 holiday season than with this Bay Area Christmas classic. Advance tickets recommended. Everyone welcome.
Duration: One hour with no intermission. Due to mature language, this show is not recommended for children under 14.
