ART CHANGES: Visual Arts with AEF
Art Changes, presented by the Alameda Education Foundation (AEF), provides short videos of local artists from diverse backgrounds demonstrating their art-making process and talking about their values and inspiration. These artist profile videos are followed by a student art activity video inspired by both the performance and the artist profile. Art projects are designed using simple materials, encouraging participation by all students.
Sometimes I Have Vivid Dreams by multimedia artist, Julie Atkinson, features a painting of a woman on the African Savanna filled with recurring shapes. Ink and watercolor create a dream-like horizon that is repeated in the textured paper collage that weaves across the bottom of the painting. Circles appear in the woman’s earrings and in the sun as it progresses across the sky. The art project concentrates on collage to create a landscape that has both depth and texture. Students will need construction paper, scissors and glue sticks.
