Make Do
Deadline for submissions extended to February 15th
Show runs March 9th-May 4th 2012
Do you lament wastefulness and struggle with throwing anything
away?
If you embrace Reduce, Re-use and Recycle as a way of life
and prefer to buy less and make more, here is the show for
you! Rhythmix Cultural Works, in collaboration with Julie's
Coffee and Tea garden of Alameda, seeks submissions for
Gallery and Runway Fashion show scheduled for March/April
2012. Let’s see how you MAKE
DO!
Troll through thrift stores, garage sales, and dumpsters.
Create functional items - clothing, accessories, house-wares
or fine art from cast off materials destined for a landfill.
Spend no more than $25 in materials for each piece of work
(limit 5) and document your process with written materials
list, receipts, photographs (before and after), video, sketchbooks,
or artists' statements, which will also be part of the show.
Submissions are due no later than February 15th, 2012. All
participating artists will be asked to pitch in $15 towards
promotion costs.
Have something to teach or share on this subject? Opportunities
abound for workshops and lectures. Let us know!
