The Art of Poi Spinning
Poi is a dance that involves rhythmically manipulating weighted tools on ropes or chains and swinging them in various circular patterns around the body. It was originally practiced by the Maori people of New Zealand (the word poi means "ball" in Maori). It is an evolving art form practiced around the world today as a hobby, exercise, and performance art. When done with fire it is exhilarating and breathtaking for both audience and performer.
Poi is great for developing grace, strength, flexibility, coordination, creativity and flow. This class is open to all levels, but is geared towards beginners. We will learn planes and basic poi movements. Come join the fun!!
